cant use anticheat?

i cant use ac,no matter what i do avg keeps it from connectng even though i added it as exception,even my whole q2 folder,any ideas?

I have had the same issue. it's the heuristic portion of my daily scan that finds it and immediately disable/removes it. If I want to play I have to unzip the .dll into my Q2 dir just before I start up.

use avira. avira will still detetct it but just put your quake2 folder on the exeptions list and then just disable avira before u run r1q2, and switch it back on after u finished

Real, I had the exact same problem that Vae just mentioned. AVG is just a headache and I'd recommend switching to a different anti-virus program as well.

avg used to keep stealing mine too, had to add it to exceptions list to let it run, but the daily scan would still stash it in the virus vault :/ avg kinda took a huge quality dive lately though... switched over to avast and never had a problem with something like that

just out of curiosity does avast detect it in the first place? or is what u saying it does detect it but after u add it to the exceptions list, it leaves it alone? I did try avast about 6 months ago and i just didn't like it, I have been using avira for a long time now and love it, simply because its easy to use, doesn't take up much resources, has live protection and yes it can be anal in what it detects but thats good imo. maybe avast has improved in the last 6 months?

what i find with the new version of avira is that u can add your q2 folder to exception list, but as soon as u load up r1q2 it actually stops the anticheat.dll from loading. so even though i love avira and think it has the best virus detection rate out of all av's i think i may change to avast
