was wondering if this command can be executed in the config? i have tried to set gl_coloredlightmaps "0" but it doesn't seem to stay

make one,  autoexec.cfg

and put the commands in that you want.


I have that command in my config,  works fine when I run it.

There are several things that won't "stick" in a regular config. I'm pretty sure setting netgraph to "1" won't stick in a config.cfg, at least it didn't in mine. I have to type it in every time I connect anywhere. And yeah, I'm too god damn lazy to copy all my shit to a new autoexec.cfg. Fuck it. Technically you aren't supposed to manually edit the config.cfg because (according to the game) it can totally screw up the default settings for Quake2, but that isn't true. If you ever fuck it up completely beyond repair, just delete the config.cfg in baseq2 and the game will generate another default one.

yep i spelled it right and put it in baseq2 folder

and you are sure its autoexec.cfg and not autoexec.cfg.txt :)

yep double sure. i just opened up note pad, copied the config settings in, renamed it autoexec.cfg and yeah doesn't work

make sure the autoexec.cfg is in your baseq2 folder.

I have a key bound to set the colored lights to a couple different values depending on the map and if I'm too drunk to see people easily.
You might try putting this in the autoexec :

alias color0 "gl_coloredlightmaps 0; gl_modulate 20; vid_restart; bind numlock color2"
alias color1 "gl_coloredlightmaps 0.3; gl_modulate 13; vid_restart; bind numlock color0"
alias color2 "gl_coloredlightmaps 1; gl_modulate 10; vid_restart; bind numlock color1"

bind numlock color1


change up the "numlock" to any key you want that works with your config.
I used that because it takes a second to restart your vid, during which you'd be helpless if you accidentally hit it.
I chose something thats not used much and out of the way on my keyboard, and I just toggle it when I get on a server.

you should see results at the press of a button, as long as you're using r1gl for the renderer in your config:

set vid_ref "r1gl"

I don't know if you use different settings for different mods and shit but I don't have an autoexec in my baseq2 folder as I  use different binds in each mod....just gotta make sure if you use the same settings and stuff for each mod that all the settings you have in your autoexecs match...I was always having a problem with my settings getting f'd up back a couple years ago and could never figure it out and basically had to rebind all my shit upon entering ra2, but it was because I had 2 autoexecs that were were complete polar opposites of each other in my baseq2 and arena folder hahaaha....so make sure they're the same and they are the right file extension so they actually work how intended when you join a game.


(edit) and I always remember having an issue with most cl_ commands for some reason back in the day and in my autoexec I would have to put "set" in front of any cl_ command for it to work and/or stick properly.  aka ---  set cl_coloredlightmaps 0
