Yeah i have XP and i dont have any problems either, i run in a window at 1024 x 768 resolution, and like M^T i run like 50 other windows in the background and have no problem with my mouse...

If so just flip the write bit to off on the map the first time you dload it and it should be ok after that. For some reason q2 seems to want to write to the maps from time to time..... Guess that would work under winders too?
