is there a command to make the rail trail more narrow? seems a bit wide

My bad.  I've seen clients that allowed you to do stuff with the trail,  like use only the middle section,  or just the outer section.  Think you can tweak the rate of spiral or something too.  Some of that might have been in aprq2,  or q3

I think theres a pak that does that.. In wod mod -- the violator has a narrow trail.

I'm pretty sure EGL lets you tweak the colors of the inner beam and outer rotation coil, although I'm not sure if lets you adjust the overall size of the tracer. I'm not sure if the EGL client is a good idea with a high ping.

one way is to lower the size of your particles to 1 or 2 pixels max.

set gl_particle_min_size "1"

it will make the trail obscure your vision less and the whole thing will appear thinner.

I also use a blue/white trail since it seems to not look as solid as the others

cl_railcore_width "3"        Width of the rail core beam.
