map spawning

Why do i always spawn in the same damn places on each map? for example on q2dm8 i always without fail spawn down the bottom near the shotgun when the map loads, and i can reconnect and still spawn in that place. it happens on a few maps, there seems to be certain spawn points where u spawn more regularly than others.

IDK about railz but I'm sure spawns are like the other mods: avoid the closest spawn from players if possible. Couple this with the fact certain areas of maps will be populated more than others, due to valued weapons, items and positions.

it may depend on the mod and the server settings.. I'm not entirely sure.

I have noticed tho, that if I load up q2dm1 on my local machine I ALWAYS spawn at the low mg.
I think there is a similar effect with some other maps.

in q1, it spawned players in the order the spawns were placed in the map (I think),  if you got those down alot of maps had a nice cherry picking pattern.

it probably has something to do with how the map was compiled...

but yeah i do think that the mod code has to do with a part of it as well lol railz spawns seem kinda gayed at times where one spawn point will get at least 50% of the spawns throughout the game using maybe 2 more and ignoring like 4 lol

i have noticed on some maps too that it seems like there is something that makes you spawn closest to the larger group of players as well

opentdm does say that avoid closest is buggy :)

I enjoyed spawn farthest on edge rails 1v1,  you ALWAYS knew where the other guy spawned based on where you were when you made the kill.

i believe the avoid closest is just so not many idiotic telefrags end up happening in shit like 1v1
