It's a game. Why do people feel so compelled to talk shit and get upset about it? I mean come on, If you like the game THAT much that you're going to stir up so much drama about it, Wouldn't your energy be better spent putting it towards getting along, and bettering the community, Making it a more public friendly environment, It's a 13 year old game it's a wonder it's still alive as is, Quit being such dickheads, You'll never be a grunt in real life.

Heinlin thought so. In Starship Troopers,a big part of the philosiphy was that when shit went down and civilization began fraying at the edges,it was militias of old vets that maintained the peace,and for anyone to have a vote and a say in how the government works you have to have served in the armed forces for a term to prove you were willing to lay down your life for those ideals.

Yep. The principle preached in RAH's original "Starship Trooper" was the right to vote was bestowed AFTER service in the military. No service, no voice in government. No right to run for elected office either. Believe it or not "Starship Trooper" was one of his juvenile stories intended for the sub-17 audience.
I thought Verhoeven did a nice job capturing the fundamental book, even if it came off a little more fascist that I originally read into it when I first read the book.
