New Tastyspleen Server dubbed "Pygmy"

this is one of the best tastyspleen servers yet!!!  it's alot like vanilla, except the maps are HUGE! and when i say huge, i mean 10x to 20x the size of regular maps.  this server is loaded with health, armor, quads, invulnerability, rebreathers, hidden areas, deep underwater caverns.  you can set no fall damage, infinite ammo, etc etc.    I really believe that once players get in the know about this new server, they will prefer it over vanilla.  it doesn't play great if you have less than 10 players though, since you'll be searching for opponents half of the game.  console announced it's debut in vanilla at around 9:00pm est time, Saturday, november 26th.  I want everyone to check this server out, send some feedback so you can let console know that their services are appreciated!  just type: goto pygmy     

for now the server is not listed in the servers lists, so thats the only way you can access it.
(these maps are pretty new to me, but some of you may have played them before.)

Amen to that! I like the big map that resembles a canyon with a windy river, and ladders to upper levels, its like a big cave.. beautiful! we should arrange something for alot of players to meet there and have a big game..

And the first map I played on was HUB too 

And speaking of HUB,there are at least 2 other maps from the PowerSphere Quest map pack that are as big and fun as HUB is:CROSS and TECHCITY.I'd recommend TEMPLE as well,but there was another DM map by that name that caused confusion once upon a time...but the other two are fine.The whole SP set is worth playing too...here is a review of it:

Should be Oprah sized maps. Because, well, it's not like that reference hasn't been used before.  Really, I don't think it ever has.

I always wanted to suggest a server that contained huge/complex maps like the ones found on pygmy, but I thought the idea would be welcomed with scoffery.  I returned to Q2 back in April of this year so I could play FFA on the single player maps, since I love huge/complex maps that require you to seek out your opponent at times. 

Almost every level on every new FPS game these days feature extremely small "arena" levels.  The levels on pygmy are just one of the reasons why Q2 will never be surpassed in my opinion.  You just cannot find levels like these anymore, and I doubt you will ever see them again.  Can any of the new game engines even handle maps as large as these?  Oh, can't forget the fact that people like "in your face" gameplay anyway...

Great addition to the tastyspleen server roster.  I'm very excited about the potential this new pygmy server has.  Hope to see all of you make good use out of it and not let it die out fast.

Oh I'm down like a clown Charlie Brown when it comes to this server. I haven't gona anywhere else since it popped up.


This week I'm going to try to cruise the map sites and find sum tasty levels to sugest.

True, it is a bloody rad server.. fun-ness! it's like a hunting game too with that server! and it's a challenge learning the map.. and finding the quad's and invuls... thumbs up for console!

Man, pygmy's more addictive than crack. Seems to be some wicked lag there though. It might be all the TS servers, but I wouldn't know because I only play on pygmy these days

I think pygmy is a great idea, but I agree with the post above, I did notice some wicked lag when vanilla server was about full.

agreed with the two above posts...great concept, wicked bad lag...won't stop me from jumping on for a bit though... just not for extended periods of time.
