Teamcamping on Vanilla and DM

Even IF the admins decided to do something about it, what are they going to do? Ban them?

That just decreases the already-small number of players we have.

All told the fuckers who do this garbage are lowering the bar on the FFA servers to previously unseen levels of shittyness and wasting everyone's time.

It's definitely not previously unseen. Historically the cows are sort of a kinder, gentler version of {PIT} clan, who used to team camp on vanilla and its predecessor xquake, as early as 2002...

To be honest, I would assume that the admins didn't respond because they don't have a single reasonable argument why team-camping is allowed.

It hadn't occurred to me there was anything to respond to.

I play on vanilla daily, or dm if vanilla is empty.

I'm trying to recall the last time a concern about team camping even impinged upon my consciousness while playing on an FFA server.  It's been awhile since I've noticed it or had a single thought about it.

On the rare occasions in the past where it's annoyed me for whatever reason, I've just typed 'skins' at console, and changed to their skin.

Problem solved?

Jesus....such a serious topic. The top players on Vanilla still win, regardless if there are cows there or not. Some of them just avoid the one obvious camp spot and play as normal everywhere else. Or they chalk up multiple frags against the moos. Cows will kill each other accidently or become easy targets for people who use their skin. All advantages to the non-cow player. It injects into the Vanilla server something which is totalling lacking from some players - humor. This game is 13 years old. The novelty and freshness are long gone. This just adds a twist now and then. Christ at this stage of Quake 2, it really is just a game. A few minutes of friendly competition - ultimately signifying nothing.

If this is really such a problem, set up a poll to see how serious an issue it is. Then Quadz can decide if the bovine teaming should stop or not.

Lol, the fact anyone is complaining about this is rather humerous...quadz reply was rape...i mean, this is almost as funny as when i used to play qpong and people would rage SO hard if you shot them and not the ball saying "quit playing dm!"...if i can kill the guy with one shot then able to score a point much easier then wtf...if it wasn't intended on being played that way, damage would be off lol...but it's expected for the players who suck ass at this game to complain about such a minute, easily fixable, inconvienence that would otherwise not be a issue to them IF said 'whine ass' was an above average player.

I guess garbage hpb's, who can't get wins any other way, aren't above resorting to things a bit worse than teamcamping in ffa to show up on the scoreboard.

On the subject of teamcamping; All well and good, but what's bizarre is how people turn things around and blame the ones on the receiving end of teamcamping for not seeing 'the humor' or treat them as whiners and newbs because they don't agree with that sort of play in ffa where it's supposed to be every player for himself.
I'd say people have the right to gang up in ffa games (up to a certain point..?) just as much as other people have the right to not like it. When you're busy trying to beat others to the fraglimit it's bad enough if you respawn in some lifeless part of a large and very linear singleplayer map. But it can sometimes get quite frustrating if you keep spawning in some dead end with no weapon in sight and your only way out is through a narrow opening that is guarded by not one but three or four stacked players. I fail to see the humor in that, it's not exactly a lot of fun to get gang-spawnraped. You know you can also have fun just playing and fragging, without having to use specific skins and form teams.
The Cru guys, Cows, CG, bananas and what else aren't really doing anything wrong if it's indeed all just for shits and giggles and it doesn't really matter if it's just a team of two. But with three, four or five teamers (including strong players) it becomes ridiculous. What if for example clans like BTF, IR or KEA start doing it, then what? It will be raining complaints if a couple of players who can win maps on their own start teaming up, wearing their clan tag. But as long as you pick a funny looking skin it's okay it seems. Especially on linear vanilla maps when working as a team you can easily keep others away from weapons or sometimes block a good portion of a map by camping/holding up elevators. For fun of course.
I guess the vanilla teamcamping 'clans' have become so common here that it's regarded as a part of the game, almost like individual campers and spawnkillers. Anyway it's not always that bad and it won't ruin my fun but after cheating, excessive spawnkilling and chat spam it's probably the gayest thing you can do in ffa servers. I'm just saying.
