We can't force anticheat on everyone because it would severely reduce the number of players.

That's why we have the Bot Drop section of the forum to spot out people who look suspicious.

Exactly.  I have no options for running anti cheat, I use a Mac.  It took me forever to even find a working version of the game, and I've been playing again for about a month now.  I would be devastated if they forced AC because I wouldn't be able to play this game and I freakin love it.  I went 7 years without playing, and it's so good to be back.

Well I have R1q2 installed with the anticheat.  I'm having a definite lag issue when I aim and shoot, now i have to guess which way a player is going and aim either slightly to the left or right.  After playing the last couple of weeks, I'm now used to playing this way.  One question I have is why do I see other players enter the game and the server says they are not using an anticheat, and yet they are allowed to play?

aiming ahead is normal... its called lag...

everyone with a ping over 40 has to, higher your ping, more you have to lead... thats just how q2 netcode works... much less glitchy than quake3/live/4 because it doesnt try to compensate for your lag

If you were forced to use anticheat, obviously its because you were caught cheating or trying to cheat... thus the "ANTI"cheat.

Focalor, I've been a long time player of Q2, 10 years?  I've never cheated nor do I even know how to cheat.

I've have always used the original Q2 program to play online with my 10 year computer.  It has worked well for me all this time.  It wasn't until I started this thread did I get the message to switch to an anticheat program.

Guess somewhere along the line, I must have beat one of you hot shot low ping spawn killers, prompting someone to belly ache to an administrator.

there isa  chance it could just be a mistake and you use the same isp as some one near by who has forced anticheat, could talk to quadz about it to make sure if it was you specifically who was forced to use anticheat than you are SOL and you will just have to deal with it

Yeah, because they dole out the forced AC's to anyone who beats them. BRILLIANT!

Wouldn't it make more sense to ban them/you altogether? That way they/you wouldn't be around to continue beating them? Nice theory though.

Your IP is within a forced-AC subnet (71.228.*.*)

It wasn't targeted at you however, but someone else on *.tn.comcast.net

You just happen to be in the same subnet.

On the plus side, now that you're using r1q2, maps will download in seconds rather than minutes.

I've never said that I was so good was the reason for the forced ac. 

 As quadz mentioned,  the reason for the ac is because I'm in a forced comcast subnet, and it wasn't targeted at me.

If your as old as I am, grew up during the muscle car era 60's, you've learned if something ain't broken why fix it. 

I've inquired about this ac, as I didn't want to change my original Q2 configuration.  It's been working well for me the last decade, why fix it.

This could have something to do with mouse settings. Start r1q2, press Esc > Options > r1q2 options.
Play with the first two options: directinput mouse (disabled/buffered/immediate) and xp mouse accel fix (disabled/enabled). Or even try the gl_swapinterval 0 command in the console and see if that changes anything.
