I sometimes got that message too:"Loading anticheat, this may take a few moments..."idk what causes it but I think this post is somehow related..http://tastyspleen.net/quake/forums/index.php?topic=13604.msg137968#msg137968for me it halts and seems to hang from loading the game probably coz im using r1q2. Aprq2 may allow the game to load but not the ac stuff. idk just my idea.
I'm not even running an antivirus at this point in time.
Just out of curiosity, it has never been explained as to why it is even picked up as a virus by anti virus programs. Can someone explain why it is?
yeah but r1ch didn't give any specific insight
yeah but r1ch didn't give any specific insight as to what makes the anti virus detect it as a virus in the first place apart from saying he has submitted it and it still turns up as a virus and saying it is a false positive, what does that mean?
If I remember correctly, anticheat.dll uses code to take a screenshot of your quake2 (or possibly your entire desktop) and can send the screenshot to the admins of the server you are playing on. If somebody has hacked anticheat.dll and you are suspicious he is cheating, you could probably take a screenshot of their quake2 and see what it looks like. If you don't receive a screenshot or they immediately disconnect, they might be trying to hide hacks.
