Ultimate Gaming League :: Grand Opening ::

We would like to take a moment to introduce the league first of all.

Who are we?

UGL will consist of 2 divisions
- Division 1 = Online League
- Division 2 = LAN League

How will this work?
- When you sign up for the site you sign up as a member, Then sign into a tourney that you would like to partake in. Once the date has reached for the tourney to start you are in charge of finding your first match, After your first match is played you go to our IRC channel located @ GameSurge #UGL.ql and contact a admin with the game results, You then sit and wait for the admin to tell you to either wait till the other match is done or he/she will indicate to you who you will play in the next round.

** Do note all rounds have a 15 min interval if your match does not start within the 15 time period there will be a declaration of a forfeit if you are the person that is being waited on.

- When you are at a LAN event all the same rules apply minus the online irc usage instead there will be a designated area to report match results.

For our first event we will be hosting a DUEL Tourney as our GRAND OPENING.
The event info can be found at http://ultimategamingleague.net along with what the prizes will be awarded and such forth.

We hope to see everyone that can make it and if not see you when you do make it.

Future events: Freeze Tag, CTF, ICTF, 2v2 TDM and MUCH MORE!!

Freeze tag, CTF, LAN tournies, one banner has art from QL. This announcement is for QL, but this thread and website should of clearly mentioned it, to avoid any possible confusion.

You should advertise this on #tastycast on globegamers. A lot of those people that are connected to tastyspleen in some way, all play QL and do their matchmaking for the game there. I don't think many people on these boards play QL.

I looked at their message board and I saw that 1manclan joined. That's most likely not mandingo.  :>

id be surprised if any of the tdm players dont at least have a quakelive account lol...

and yeah i coulda checked the site, but meh too lazy... its on a q2 forum, if its a league for somethin else it would be good to say it in the post

I'm not keeping tabs on who's playing what, but I doesn't seem like it to me. I think a lot of players quit playing the game honestly in early beta. For instance that seems to be the case for a lot of BTF folks, who still play Q2.

It doesn't matter which TDM player has an account, cuz you can find a lot of folks from different Quakes who have a QL account. It doesn't matter if they don't play with any regularity, which I can't think of a person besides dahang, adrenaline or naym. opt1ckz quit q2 and only plays QL now, so he doesn't count. If you want to count irtdm, Railwolf doesn't count either since he only plays QL nowadays.

Anyway, like I mentioned, #tastycast is the place to go rather than here I think, because they play and talk a lot about QL, and have enough dedication to that community to maybe want to play in a tournament for it.

alot of people are turning their noses up to quakelive atm, they are getting sick of it. It's probably a good opportunity to bring them back to q2 (which some are) instead of taking up some of the newer games. How you do that, i don't really know. the NADL league is a good start. i suppose you will just have to shamelessly promote q2, get people excited about playing this game again. which is what i do all the time to anyone who will listen. I am even trying to get more aussie players here, some won't play on a higher ping but tastyspleen is a well hosted place.

Looks like a fun site when it gets going.

Count me in with the BTF'ers who quit QL early.  Some problems with punkbuster only let me get 2 minutes of gaming in before it booted me for connectivity issues.
I tried everything in the help thread for it.  Setting browser priority to it's lowest setting let me stay on longer,  but I felt it hampered gameplay.

Oh on a side note, We have bigger plans for UGL then ppl think we are starting with QL and heading to other games ASAP we are looking into SC2 / Q2 / Q1 / Diablo3 and much more we already have TigerDirect and another company looking to help as it goes with sponsoring these LAN events and Online Cups.

I will visit TS channel and talk to Jehar and see what he thinks about the idea's

quakeworld stuff in north america would be very cool to see although youd have to advertise to other quake communities as the quakeworld na community itself is kinda dead.... some pickup stuff left but not much at all, just have to know where to look for the players and see if they would like to help a little

im always promoting any and all quake games

in the nadl channel the other day i promoted cpma ctf pickups talking to adrenaline and haunted, in the uscpmpickup chanel the other day i was promoting the hell out of quake2 they thought i was just trolling cause i said cpm tdm sucks in comparison... here im always promoting games like quake4

id like to see all the quakes get more attention than they do... most people just kinda settle with quakelive cause it has the players.. but many like quake4 or quakeworld or quake2 more, some like vq3 more as a community it would be good if we took advantage of people being upset with quakelive currently and try to give some spark to the older communities
