It should be apparent though. Clearly the wiki divides the old and source versions, and there's a picture that clearly captions which one is source. Besides, what kind of Source game looks graphically that dated?

In that game you can pick up your enemy's weapon. The Thompson is one of the best weapons in that game.

to make the game more balanced, each side has the exact same classes, abilities & weapons. While they were stripping the fun from the game obviously they stripped off the extra memory/resource requirements for new weapon models too.

The German light machinegun was typically an mp40 or an stg44. A Thompson has a faster rate of fire, although I think the Soviet ppsh41 and pps42/43 was capable of more rounds per minute. But if I had someone shooting at me, I still think I'd rather have the more reliable mp40.
