husker did you ever plot a traceroute to any of these servers? You may be hitting crappy routers when your coming in this way.

Console(s):  How about modifying the xquake.net homepage to show those plugin (like Qplug, or whatever the latest variation is) boxes that display who's playing on what server?  Some of the plugins even allow for starting the game directly from the page, if I'm not mistaken.  

If you can't modify the xquake homepage, how about putting up a sticky thread that would link to a page that does this (like one of the free homepages that many offer).

Yeah the q3plugin this is a bit neat. For those who don't know what that is, it's a neat plugin for internet browsers that lets clients see the server status of a server similar to the ones on gamespy and such. If you double click on them, they will take you to that server. Kinda neat, KEA uses it on there website and i have considered using it on our as well.

Spike, this is exactly what I'm talking about, and I think it would do wonders to get more interest in the other servers that are up now.  If people could see at a glance what was going on, they could easily join.  

Let's face it, the www.xquake.net homepage is, ah, lacking.   It's not even clear that the forums are a link away.  A redesign is in order, and the addition of Q3plug or the other plugin mentioned would be great.  

Yeah, I guess people could code their own homepages to include the plugin's output, but I'm not into that.  I'd rather just link to a page that was created by the Xquake peeps and see it there.

How about making one of the other new servers run all the BIG maps? Maybe with a longer time limit so people can download them before they switch and a lower frag limit so people aren't stuck there when they DO get in.Like the dm64 maps,the powersphere ones and there are at least a dozen more I can think of too.
