"Today, at the PAX convention in Seattle, developer Gearbox and publisher 2K Games announced that the game is in fact still in production and it will be coming out for PS3, PC, and Xbox 360. It's due out in 2011.

Although the game was announced today, we still didn't get to see any screenshots or video.

Duke Nukem was on the verge of becoming a serious shooter series before Forever. But after the game became so hilariously long-delayed, it tarnished the entire franchise to a cheap punch line.

It may be on its way back to relevance now, though. There's one thing for sure - this game has been hyped for a longer period of time than any other in the history of video games. It has a lot to live up to in order to meet expectations."

I think this is GREAT!  It might not live up to its ungodly expectations, but after the amazing awesome gameplay trailer leaked in april, I have high hopes for it, and I think it will be VERY successful.

I'm not sure what this means. Based on the description, they've changed the first level around. I wonder how much of the game is going to be changed. I'd imagine that they do have to do a bit of redesign, as the game design documents were leaked when 3d realms shut it's doors. But, I don't think anyone knows who sent this over to gear box and who retains rights.


Remember these key facts.
#1 Take 2 never paid a penny for the rights to publish the game. The rights were inherited through a buyout of a buyout of a company that was already bought out.
#2 Take 2 sued 3d Realms, who were assumed to be making arrangement to outsource development of the title.
#3 Take 2 cut the funding for the game after "breeching" a promise to provide more funding for development
#4 Take 2 tried to bully the rights for the franchise off of 3d Realms. Rumor was that they offered $12million for the rights to which Brussard responded that he wishes and would have accepted it.

I'm still pretty sore at Take 2. 3d Realms may have been a running gag for never finishing the game, but that's no excuse for the kind of underhanded crap that take 2 pulled on them.

Well you have to remember this game is now being developed by Gearbox and the problem with 3D Realms is that they suffered from perfectionism, obsession with upgrades to the game, i.e. link--->http://www.wired.com/magazine/2009/12/fail_duke_nukem/

Now that it is being developed by gearbox, hopefully it will NOT get delayed any time sooner and will be on store shelves by 2011
