Weird fullscreen issue

So I can play in fullscreen just fine.  Problem is, no matter what I do, I can't get it to START in fullscreen.  I am using R1Q2 and I have gl_mode set to -1 and custom height and width set to 1920x1080 and fullscreen set to 1.  When I launch it, it acts like its fullscreen because even when you pull the console down it dosen't free the mouse, I have to alt tab out but it is in a window.  If I go into video settings while game is running and just hit enter on any of the settings (basically a vid_restart) it will go to full screen.  However, just typing vid_restart in the console does nothing...

Anyone had this issue?

Sometime to get some video setting to take,  I have to vid_restart twice.   Happens about once a week.  :exqueezeme:

Hi,

First thing I'd try would be to check that all your drivers and such are Up to date!

If everything is good to go, Next thing I'd check would be does it only happen in quake2?

If yes, You might wanna revise your config, if you don't know what does what, Get a buddy to go over a few with you, Make sure everything is okay.

If you don't have a buddy, I know just the guy! Aprq2, download from www.antiche.at, All you gotta do is, Full screen it, have everything the way you want, and bring down the console, enter "cfg_save test", Start up r1q2, "exec test.cfg" in console, If it brings itself to exactly how you saved it as, rename it autoexec and bam, You should be good to go.

P.S I'm NOT saying I know what's wrong, and I'm NOT saying any of this will work, It's hard to tell without physically being there, Sorry, But I hope this helps.

and one more thing, If all else fails, Grab some footage of it, use fraps or something www.fraps.com I believe, and put it up on youtube, So we can know what's going on rather then going off of a rather vague explanation.

are you using an autoexec.cfg?

are those settings in the autoexec.cfg?

r1q2.exe wont actually save changes you make in game because its not the normal quake2.exe and cant write to the normal config

if those settings ARE in your autoexec.cfg... try to check what is after them, make sure there is nothing that would change them later on

and i will also suggest you put in a vid_restart or two at the tail end of your autoexec.cfg :) see if that fixes the problem

also, check and see that no other programs your running at the same time are screwin with it, or even your operating system firewall settings or somethin

R1GL does not support negative gl_mode values.  So open your config or autoexec and just change it to something else, eg. gl_mode "6" (as long as it's positive). That should solve the problem.

i think its on your 1920x1080 resolution.  Try lowering it a bit. I bet you can start in full screen.

That was it!  Set gl_mode to 6 and I guess the custom height and width setting overrode it.

eh... it happens :) ive done the same thing before  :lolsign:

quake2 components are fairly universal allowing you to mix and match clients and renderers and stuff but cvars controlling different parts such as the renderer arent always uniform, setting gl_mode -1 in another renderer defaults the resolution to your r_customheight and r_customwidth
