Perhaps he had someone play for him.  Seriously though this game has some really good frags but haunted spoiled the ending big time : )

I was a nub....I'm used to playing people that would just give up in a situation like that and just say gg(knowing that i can evade them easily on a map like dm1, guaranteed to win). so I went to upper RL and just considered it won, then started to celebrate by spinning in circles while crouched....and not listening to sounds. Clearly this is a bad habit for a competition and my fault. I ain't koth champion material anyway, and I ain't worried about it cuz it was still a gg, and he's a good player. duo = additionally, frustrating experiences like this really in the long run just bring the best out of someone by learning from it, so I feel pretty good about what happened and I'm glad how it turned out.

@jehar- I picked dm1 from your comments(shun v. tehsandwich) on it being such a defensive map... hope you like what I did with it. next time get all my trick jumps on video

Yeah, I really like how the metagame of dm1 changes depending on who you're playing. But to my recollection, it's less about the map being "defensive" and more about "anti +forward". If you rush all the time when you control megaroom, you have a good chance of losing the megaroom unless you're timing it. If you rush all the time when you're not in control, you're throwing away frags. Most of those comments were directed at newer players, since you see a lot of megaroom metaplay in higher levels. Also, players like naymlis who can grab mega/ya while his opponent is at lower RL and *still* beat them to the bottom of the lift, yeah, that changes things.

thanks. well it was that, and the general new anti-dm1 attitude that many have adopted recently, that wanted me to pick the map, aside from knowing it would be a fun one v. gaud(there are 3-4 more maps i'm a lil more confident on). The map has awesome locomotion and angles to get around someone who is camping you. There are so many opportunities that people just let pass them by... if you play like that, and lose, you're going to get beat decisively. If you don't play like this..... shifts of control aren't as big of a deal(circumstantial though). Usually you're looking for the happy medium between the two on this map, but I tend to lean towards the +forward method. The one problem with playing like that, on dm1, is the 80 ping though. Dm1 is a decent counterpick for a higher pinger, but not how I was playing it. Low ping chain helps.. and FORREAL, naymlis knows much better than to try that on Haunted.
