i had to laugh when i watched on my local tv station the morons of the masses wait overnight in the freezing cold to get their hands on the new apple iphone  which was released in australia over the weekend. Now i don't know about anyone else but i was looking for a new mobile myself and looked at alot of phones, read a shit load of reviews ect to try and help me make a decision as to which phone i got to suit my needs, and i came to the conclusion that the new apple iphone isn't worth a damn. Here you have a phone that retails at over $1000 and has some pretty cool features (well atleast what they try to market anyways) but when it comes down to it, i had done some research on the touchscreen phones and found that they break down very easily, you might be thinkin so what, well what i found quiet amusing was the fact the new iphone doesn't have a slide or seperate qwerty keypad, which means when the touch screen breaks down, which it inevitably will, you have to go out and buy a whole new fucking phone cause it will render it useless to use. you would think for a phone that has so many cool features like video calls they leave out something simple like a seperate keypad.

same sentiments here.. its just part of the fad.  I have an o2 XDA-mini and an iphone (first one)  but i prefer my o2 than the i phone. but frankly speaking i just use my cell for calls.

whats funny here in my place is that that there are tons of knock-off iphones made in china which just costs around 30usd. it looks so the same so even if you have the real iphone people here would simply dismiss it as a knock-off. lol

I never heard of a smart phone that uses a key pad. Personally, I think touch screen is more quick and easy to use, and sleak compared to key pads.

The iPhone is more affordable in America. It's only $699 with no contract. You guys got shafted.

You can replace the screen if it wears out. $200-250 through Apple I think, but you could go cheaper if you use knock-off parts.

I couldn't give a damn about the iPhone or smart phones in general. They would be nice to have, but I only make phone calls with cellphones.

It's called a Blackberry and it was on the market years ago.

Apple designs some nice toys. I own an iMac. The DVD drive is going bad and it can't be replaced by the user. I'll have to send it in to Apple and suffer the downtime.

Same thing goes for their iPhones. You can't even replace the battery when it goes bad. And it WILL go bad.

It only took them 4 generations to design a sleek, thin phone that fits in your pocket but needs a clunky, fat "bumper" in order to work properly.

I don't see the point of spending that much money on something that will probably end up taking up MORE of your time instead of taking up LESS time and being easier. You need a phone? Get a god damn phone! Web browsing and movies and games... most people really don't NEED that bullshit. You'd think that the state of the economy would've taught more people to save their money instead of spending it on stupid shit that really isn't necessary at the moment. People need to take a step back and THINK about the shit they're spending their money on. They need to always remember that companies these days don't usually develop products based on the question of "Is it good enough for the consumer?" Instead, (and especially with new electronic technologies and gadgets) they ask the question, "Is it too good for the consumer?" They're out to remove as much money from you as they possibly can, and they'll do whatever they have to do to make that happen. They will come up with a technology and then release updated better versions of it to entice you into spending more money. Sure, it's the smart move and smart business for them, but it's the consumers job to see through their bullshit and to have the common sense to spend their money wisely. Maybe you think that buying the latest hip new phone which allows you to play video games to kill the boredom on your subway commute is a great idea. Meanwhile the guy sitting across from you on the train is noticing how occupied you are and making his move to steal your briefcase. Or maybe he'll just wait until you get off the train so he can stick a gun in your face, take your briefcase, wallet, and your shiny new 600 dollar phone that will be a piece of shit in 12 months anyway. If you're lucky, maybe he won't even shoot you, stab you, or beat you half to death.

My big fat old Nextel calls all the same phones that a tiny new iphone will. It's really easy to use. I can walkie-talkie with people on the other side of the fucking country and avoid long-distance charges. Did I mention that it's really easy to use? And I'll have enough money left over to do something else with... like pay a credit card down to 0 instead of being forced to pay the minimum on it every month because I went out and charged a one thousand dollar cell phone and otherwise I might not have enough money to pay for rent or food.
