Your onboard sound actually sucks and is picking up EMI from your CPU or GPU which are working hard.

i thought it was onboard sound also... :/ but it doesnt do it in another q2 client that i was running, and it doesnt do it on the desktop when im playing music or such

try borrowing another set of headphones and see if the humming is still there.. if its not its probably an issue with ur headset and your soundcard in processing q2 sounds. 
BTW, does the manual indicate the impedance of your headphones?
