Mouse tweaks
«

I've been trying to up my mouserate for the last week or 2, without any succes so far,
still the crappy 125mhz limit
I've tried the program dervish posted,
booted into safemode, upped it to 500mhz, back into normal mode, check the rate : 125mhz
Anyone got some other programs for me to try?
And should the program really work on my logitech optical crapmouse?
Thanks =)

Windows XP
I tried another program, dont know the name right now but, it had had me replace the windows file called usbport.sys, with another usbport.sys, which was 1kb bigger.
After restarting my computer, it wouldnt boot into windows anymore, no safe mode, no last known configuration, nothing. Just one giant loop of my windows restarting itself over and over again. So I reinstalled windows over my old one (dualboot), started digging into my old win drive and re-replaced the file for the original, then my original windows finally started again.

I do remember there being small programs to bump up the polling rate in xp. It's been years since i've used any of that but a trusted site's forums has some info:
http://www.overclock.net/computer-peripherals/596276-changing-usb-polling-rate-1000hz-lower.html
For Quake series I've seen the majority of people agree that a DPI of 800 works best. Raising the polling rate to 1000hz does seem to quicken the response time of the mouse input, however ive also seen graphs where the higher hz can allow more errors in tracking... probably depends on the mouse. Others' results may vary. Batteries not included.
One thing in quake that seems to help alot is to set the m_pitch slightly lower (slower) than the m_yaw. This helps stabalize your aim.
The Microsoft Intellimouse is still a good choice for quake if you're looking for a cheap but very capable gamer mouse. There are several versions of it out there.

There used to be a cool console guide for Q2 on planetquake.com, but it appears to be gone...
(it used to exist here:
http://console.planetquake.gamespy.com/commands/quake_2.html
)
It read:
m_yaw - The sensitivity for looking left and right with the mouse.
m_pitch - The sensitivity for looking up and down with the mouse.
(default being .022)

hehe thats exactly what i thought the commands did,
im now using m_pitch .018, m_yaw .022 havent noticed much of difference so far, maybe i should go lower then .018?

Q2 console guide :
http://www.cs.rochester.edu/research/quagents/console_commands.htm
Maybe its wise to put this list in the same format on the tastyspleen forum/server. (a Q2 console guide button at the top of the screen with all the other buttons) Don't depend on external websites.
So that this community becomes the ultimate place for everything you want to know about quake II.

ok, now ive used another program, and it does put MUCH higher results in my mousrate checker, here they are.
Uploaded with
ImageShack.us
But it's not consistent at all, after this theres 200×125mhz or lower results, so it doesn't seem consistent at all, and my other mouse rate checker says its not even working
..
