Decided to defrag the hd of the system I got connected to my tv.

Looks like just in time,

It was actually completly red, but I stopped it a little bit after I started and took the screenshot.

eeeeeeeeew is that the windows defragmentor?

I've heard it doesn't do a very good job.

OMG! how long did you take between defrags ... a yr or 2? Ive never had a drive look like that...and I go months w/out defraging!

Yep, Windows Defragmentor. It seems to get the job done, never used anything else.

I hadn't defragged since I re-installed Windows on that system, which was back in July, I don't even use the hd that much, only thing stored on it is a few emulators, winamp, some wallpapers, and some videos that I haven't backed up yet. Mainly just use the emulators, all my ROMs are either on DVD or loaded over the LAN, and I stream videos over the LAN from my main system or watch off DVD, not sure how it got that bad.

thats crazy solo
i recently defraged both of mine, the drive where i keep all my filess was pretty bad
not as bad as yours of course haha

Holy moly! I defragged mine about 2 weeks ago, but some fragmented files couldent be sorted, will they stay fragmented forever?

That and some files can never be moved from where they are.And using any programs while defraging is not a good idea.

Unmovable files usually show up as green.

Those Linux file systems are probably much better at that stuff then NTFS.

I remember getting some real speed increases in the old days fiddling with the interleave. 'course that's preetty much a dead issue with drives these days

I do remember using"open source" programs to defrag dos drives before MS ever heard of defrag. Spinrite was one of the first "commercial" defraggers available. It's amazing how the tech that was so exciting we take for granted today - guess that's "progress"

there gunna totaly drop support in the next windows

I doubt they're going to completly drop support in the next version of Windows. That would screw over a whole lot of people that still use floppies, not even MS would do something that dumb, not when Linux is still supporting floppies.

Personally, I haven't used floppies in quite a while, I didn't even put a floppy drive in my system when I built it. I got at least four of them laying around though, just in case I ever do need one.

iv heard it from alot of people, when the the beta version of vista was out
i didnt try it :p but i was heard some things liek that

even the IT person where i work says there gunna do it
