Im new to quake 2 , have only had audio issues with characters but I keep geting booted from vanilla and dm. It says im flooding the server dont know what that means, can somebody help me cheers

Quadzeseseses homeowners insurance doesn't cover flood damage, nor can he get flood insurance since the servers aren't technically located in a flood plain. Try playing while wearing hip waders or from the safety of a canoe.

Please post the contents of your game config in it's entirety. Sounds like you probably have some bad settings or aliases in there.

Generally this would indicate something in your config (usually a key binding) is frequently changing a userinfo variable, such as: spectator, rate, fov, gender, skin, name, or hand.

I've seen weird rocketjump binds/aliases cause a person to be kicked before as well.

Anything setting cl_maxfps too low gets a kick (no super rocket jump binds). Rate too high just gets the warning "Server max rate cap at xxxx". I never hit that because I play with a rate of 4000. Setting cl_maxfps too high commonly gets the message "So-and-so sent too many packets/sec (520). So-and-so was kicked."

Hrmmmmmm....

Nothing immediately jumps out at me in that config... other than your really strange mouse setup. I mean, everyone has their individual preferences for controls that they are comfortable with, but in my opinion, doing anything other than the following is just making it harder than it has to be:

bind MOUSE1 "+fire"
bind MOUSE2 "+moveup"
bind MOUSE3 "+movedown"

Also, just a tip...

If you're using a flatscreen LCD monitor (which most people do these days), it would help to eliminate a bit of aiming lag by changing your gl_swapinterval setting from 1 to 0, like so:

set gl_swapinterval "0"

It also appears as though your vid_ref isn't stock...

This sets the video renderer to Quake II default opengl (ref_gl). You don't need the "ref_" part in front, Quake II gets it.

I looked at my "virgin" q2 setup and config.cfg has:

set vid_ref "gl"

So the default setting for <vid_ref> is "gl", not "ref_gl".

edit: I just went back and checked what happens when you type:

vid_ref "ref_gl"

at console in both r1q2 and 3.20. It errors out both times because it tries to load "ref_ref_gl".
