what is it with the servers lately?

Hi,

Pretty sure it's not the servers.  I'm only about 1000 miles from tastyspleen.net, but there's no lag at all for me.

Have you tried enabling the netgraph in Q2?  I tried a traceroute to your IP from the server, and it looks like you may be experiencing packetloss within the sprintlink network.

Code: [Select]
traceroute to 121.50.xxx.xxx, 30 hops max, 40 byte packets

bring out the console in ur game by typing  ~
then type -       netgraph 1

if ur connection is ok you should see an almost flat green bar below. red spikes , green spikes or down slopes are lags.

I guess none ( I might be wrong though). Its up to you isp I guess. But you may be able to minimize some lagginess by your config. Particulary in the Graphic quality such as in textures.

Do you see red lines on the netgraph?

r the route my connection is taking, is there any way to fix it? i am on adsl connection from australia

Essentially all you can do is complain to your ISP.

For awhile some company was offering a proxy service for getting better routes to game servers.  Can't recall their name or if they are still in business.  (And not sure it would help your route from Australia anyway.)

Though I doubt it that your ISP will do some major route changing just coz of your complain.

I think my isp sometimes do some proxying or some sort of certain prot forwarding to other routes (probably load balancing), coz I do notice sometimes that if have some probs in doing port forwarding on p2p programs. My modems public ip is diffrent from what is displayed on p2p servers.
