HOW ARE YOU GENTLEMEN.

I finally coded in some safeguards into mymap, so it's available on vanilla again.

Currently:

- a given map can't be played more frequently than every 45 minutes
- +ia (infinite ammo) can't be used more often than every 45 minutes

Let's see how it goes . . .

Edit: I've added a "nextmap" command that will show the next 10 maps in the queue.
Also, I've added code so +pu should now work on vanilla. With -pu (the default) you get the bonus railgun etc. But with +pu you should now get quad and invuln.

Love ya to death, console, but I for one would prefer to see the mymap feature retired forever! Hehe, but that's just me!

Actually what would be cool is if not only you could keep a map from being played more than once every two hours, but keep individual players from "mymapping" more than once every two hours (or so). But hell, you're busy enough, and whatever you do to this server on your own time for no compensation is appreciated here.

Thanks for the mymap update. Sometimes I really like to queue in a q2dm3 or city1. Actually I'd like to play some q2 campgrounds sometime.

Well - it would be easy,technically, to add IP-based limits to mymap usage. But I'd like to understand better what it is about mymap that is resulting in a lower quality q2 experience for you. For instance, on vanilla, the only maps available via mymap are the single player maps (plus a very few custom maps.) What I'm wondering is - have I missed out on some avenue where mymap still comes off as being abused, resulting in your request that access to mymap by individual players be reduced? Or is it not necessarily a problem in the abuse category, but possibly resulting from the randomized ordering of the map rotation that ensues when mymap is used?

For instance, if we "retired" mymap, but instead randomized the rotation order on-the-fly, would that be just as bad? Just hoping to get a clearer idea of why mymap is an irritant.

If there's one thing we've learned on the forums, nobody can agree on what the "good" maps are on vanilla.
