Experiment: A few occasional custom dm maps

Howdy,

As an experiment I've added a few custom maps to 'mymap' on dm.  However, I've set it up so that at least 5 regular dm maps will be slotted between any possible custom maps.

Currently availble: match1 fury ztn2dm3 aerowalk frdm3 grom_dm3

Not trying to turn dm into mutant, just thought some occasional classic custom dm maps might be nice.

But, it's an experiment.  If the regulars think this sucks, I'll remove them.

Well since I had thought that Match1 was actually one of the original PRE-patch DM maps thats cool. But even though I love Aerowalk, still, it and the others on DM. Ehh, guess we'll see, but still that goes back to the original argument that thats what Mutant was for.
Not trying to piss in anyones cerial here. In fact i can't even be called a regular anymore anyhow.
Just sayin,

That is poodm10 btw.  (available on mutant)

But it uses custom textures, so i likely wouldn't add it to dm.

Hmmm, that's a shame, it is a very nice map.  The blue is refreshing and it's similiar to q2dm1, two yellow armors and a mega health large enough for FFA, and has very fast wide staircases, and a couple difficult jumps to make use of q2 movement.  Maybe people won't mind downloading the textures once, it should be pretty quick nowadays?  Whenever I typed q2pduel6 I always got a different map, poodm10, nice name ;p.

On another note, I always wondered why you don't put something on the front page like:
"Q2 getting started" with the explanation of goto, the download of the demo with pak0 (seems a little ridiculous we can't publish pak0, when it really doesn't matter except for a slight annoyance), and a link to all seeing eye.  I could just imagine not knowing where to look if I was new at the game, even though there are mulitple helpful threads etc.  Just a thought..

edit:
ah, I see something new is there. pretty small link though, and could probably be modified to be a little more informative.  for example, the servers are listed in addresses, here is all seeing eye, here is how to get on irc, here is how to use goto...nice though.  with the game being free, simple and fun more should be playing.  I wonder if that page could get on lists of free games, and get ranked on google, it should.

i always come in dm requesting match1, now theres some more maps i can practice on so i can beat the regulars like on match1 :D

I think it's a great idea, Good job adding frdm3, That's one of the best maps in my opinion, It's like dm1 but with a twist of rage, People say it's too vert, and hard to understand but it really only takes 10 minutes tops to learn

i dont really play on dm, but isnt the whole point of dm to just have those really iconic dm1-8 maps that everyone knows?

some of the people who dont frequent the forums, more casual players, might end up upset over the addition of some of those maps because not everyone knows them

so just keep that in mind, that there still might be a negative reaction to them that you wont see here on the forums

luckily, if you just add them to the mymap list and not the rotation, the anger that's generated (if any) will tend to be directed towards the guy mymapping stuff instead of the server admins.
