www.portforward.com has all you need.

On the first page scroll down and select your router from the list. Then on the second page select the program you are forwarding ports for, eg 'quake 2'.
Okay here ya go -> http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT55AG/Quake_2.htm

To test the port(s) and to really make sure it is open they also have a Portchecker tool  8)

my router had an option for Q2.   :yessign:  Yours might too.

But I found I needed to connect to the WAN IP to join my server on my computer when broadcast over the net, it wasn't listed in the local games.

Odd, I had that exact same router. I spent weeks trying to get port forwarding to work (Friar you probably remember me venting your direction about it) Even tried the DMZ option with no luck. All security for it was broken as well. Any type of WEP, WSA, or similar security would scrub the admin password and clear the MAC access list. (which means that you had to reset it)

I could never find firmware upgrades either. Something along the lines of linksys not being the OEM. That router is absolutely 100% trash in my opinion. I ended up using an older router that only supports wireless-B. The linksys was soooo buggy that even using wireless-G it was not any faster when doing traffic on the LAN. (obviously wireless-B is faster than the average connection so switching from B to G has little to no affect on internet speed)

So anyway, it looks like you got things working. If not, good luck trying the steps from the port forwarding website.

27910 is the default port

I try to run 2 or 3 server ports so I open from 27910 to 27913

I can ping the server but can't connect. It asks for a password.
