its eeeh okay i didnt get too much into it.

im sure its going to cause a few people to upgrade. I loaded it on an older video card and it ran it decent  fx5900
im sure anything newer than that and a decent processor to go with it and at least 1gb ram will be smooth

it's dissapointing... rumors that say it's supposed to be like q2 gameplay are incorrect, it's incredibly close to q3. Still a fun game, but id rather play q2 any day.

the q2 rumors are really only for the sp, the environment.
the mp is basically more or less q3.

of course I only know this through hearsay, because amazon fucking dot com sucks big green donkey dix!

My Quake 4 download is almost complete.  I should be trying it out in 2 hours from now if all goes as planned.

This is the first time I have ever downloaded a game.  I really can't be bothered by going out and buying something that may not work on my computer.  If I like it and it runs well on the worst settings (I'm not picky), then I will buy it.  Pretty simple.

Downloading has crossed my mind too, I'd like to try before I buy.  Why haven't they released a demo yet.

I think they should release the demo at least a week before the game comes out, no way am I going to wait half a year to try it, I want to know how it runs on my system now

Ok guys, i got it preordered at Qcon and picked it up on Tues. Oct 17. Well i do like it. I miss the double jump but its fun overall. Its built more off of strategy then it is fear like Doom3 was. I'll post some screens as i continue to get further along but i wont post any spoilers (bosses, weapons, ect) untill later on. The sp is similar to q2's mission based levels and the mp is more or less ripped directly from q3 and tuned up in grafix. I actually like q4's mp over q3's but q2 is still the best overall imho.

Well what do you expect when the release date is the 19th?  Or 18th.. I forget, I haven't been sleeping.
They get it, and you want same day mail?  Good luck.  That's why you don't order something online if you want it the same day it comes out.

release date was the 18th, they had them before the 18th.
when they tell me to pre-order so they can ship it the 18th I fully expect them to ship it the 18th and not the 20th

According to id's site it wasn't shipped to retailers untill the 18th, and they weren't expected to have it until at least the 19th.

We are pleased to announce that QUAKE 4 for the PC is done, and will begin shipping on Tuesday, October 18th! The game will be arriving at retailers beginning Wednesday, October 19th.
