Hi, i am having problem's connecting to any server's due to a file error

the message is

ERROR: LoadTGA: (models/weapons/g_rail/skin_new.tga): Pointer passed end of file - corrupt TGA file

I cannot find such a file ? weird, maybe someone can help, i was using yesterday with no problem's but now i cannot use. I know nothing of how q2 works, so any help will be nice.

Are you using a custom pak file? What engine are you using if any?

Quake 2 has its own "file system". Internally, a file loaded from a real Windows file on disk is indistinguishable from a file that was loaded from within a .PAK file.

As X'tyfe has suggested, your corrupt file is probably from a pak file you have. You can move/rename custom pak files one at a time until you don't get the error. Then you can get a newer version of that pak or do surgery on it with PakExplorer.

I moved a few pak's and the error went, then i moved them back, and it works.... weird, thank's, i can connect now .. some file system error i suppose

BTW, r1q2 has a handy command... from the q2 console, type whereis ... like:

whereis models/weapons/g_rail/skin_new.tga


... and it will tell you which pak file (or directory) the file is being loaded from.
