I'm interested in helping run a player of the month event, or player focus event if it isn't monthly. This could be a five minute interview segment or perhaps simply a set of IRC Q&A which we summarize.

Good idea? Thoughts?

Very good idea, and one that I'd want to see a lot of. How would this player be selected? Via the monthly stats? Across the entire ts.net-scape, or for specific servers?

I say Defiant goes first.

Mmmh though selection after that is an issue. I don't think players would just pop up and "pick me!" though I could be wrong. Maybe the most active? Other than that I would say what about the community nominates players they want to know more about?

That way if no one is nominated then we can just going by the most active player (forums or servers).

In all seriousness, I want to hear more from HitMe. He loves the game, loves to participate, but due to physical restrictions can never really be a serious competitor. I'm sorry but that's a Quake 2 role model if I ever saw one!

I don't think we'll have any problem picking people for the interviews.

Perhaps people should post the questions which we would ask every player as part of the interview.

Then we would air the results in a segment during one of the TastyCast sessions, perhaps including some highlight demos/shots. For some players highlights would be some tight game, others might be their cool model and funky nade tactics.

1. What aliases/names have you used and why?
- i love the (sometimes) hidden meanings behind aliases and i love to see names from many years ago and watching a web of crossed paths build.

2. What clans have you been in?

3. What mods do you enjoy?

4. What weapons do you prefer?

5. What maps do you prefer?

6. General personal information:
- What is your age/sex/location, what is your job

7. What is your gaming history?

8. When did you join Tastyspleen, and what servers did you frequent before that?

9. What do you see in the future for Quake2 players?

10. From who and what did you learn something(s) important about the game of Q2?

Now, selection methods - the monthly stats are a great resource, and I'd like to pick on people who'd never be a part of the community discussion otherwise (I'm thinking of all of those vanilla/dm players who don't irc or use the forums ever).

i agree with Jehar, for a few reasons:

A. The folks who have not had direct interaction with the TS forums or TS.tv have not given input to their history yet.

B. It would likely increase (potentially in a large way) more TS forums and TS.tv interaction by those exact members, and others like them. The ones that play the game day in day out, but never touch on Q2's social outer linings such as TS irc, TS-live, TS.tv, TS forums. At this point, i bet only half of the server users touch the forums. i might even be aiming high there.

C. With each new interacting member comes fresh new ideas for even wider horizons for the future of Q2.

How did get started playing Quake 2?

How did you find Tastyspleen?

Why did you pick your player name?
