Just cut off my land line. Should have done that 5 months ago!

Been on dial-up since 97. Now at some point gotta get somethin else, most likely FIOS.

Until then, startin tomorrow, will be a total no show on the servers (not that I have been on much anyway)

Dial up? SINCE WHEN!?!?!?!?! And you haven't blown your brains out with a handgun yet? I gotta hand it to you, you are a true survivor!

I was on dialup until maybe 3 years ago. I really didn't use the internet for much other than IM chatting and email until then. I started doing more browsing and it would take literally 10 or 15 minutes for pages to fully load. It's not like the old days. 90% of websites these days have content geared towards hi-speed connections, leaving all the 56k'ers beating their heads against the desk and twiddling their thumbs for half an hour before their email finally loads.

So they don't even have DSL out your way yet? Gees it's 2010. I live way out in the country on a rural road and when I moved here in 2008 I was offered 56K dial-up. I had no real choice so I figured I'd at least have e-mail and some slow browsing. The day the installer showed up he said they had just installed DSL on the road the week before and do I want to change? So I said sure. It's like a slow cable but it works. I'm just surprised that some populated areas in Texas still don't have some version of hi-speed.

I have all the options here. Cable, DSL, Satellite or FIOS. Just aint in the budget for a month or two. Probably going with FIOS though.
