any good single player games out there? im so burnt out on mmorpgs atm... i crack out on one for 2-3 weeks quit and switch to the next cookie cutter mmo...
actually interested in nerding it out with some type of space exploration game of sorts.. that star trek game is getting released but the reviews claim there isnt much exploration nor is there any sense of immersion... swtor looks promising but wont be released for like another year it seems... besides those are mmo's
like what im interested in is something like elite 2
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elite_2_-_Frontier
but 2010 not 1993, doubt anything that creative exists these days as all these games just hump each other and pop out clones of each other... gaming just sucks lately... i have more fun cutting down trees in my yard than using my computer

Yeah, that IS a lot of fun.
How much you willing to spend? I found zombie driver a lot of fun:
http://www.zombiedriver.com/news.php5
only $10. I prefer to get the non-steam one, that way you're not supporting steam.
Unlimited installs but you can only download 5 times I think before you need to ask for more downloads (just save the EXE).
I liked CoD:MW2. Borderlands is meh. Seems very shallow & the RPG part of it is kind of annoying (IE you can fire a rocket &, stat wise, you miss so it goes THROUGH the baddie & doesn't blow up.).
AvP3 comes out soon.
You got doom 3? Some really good SP D3 mods out there.

STALKER.
I know, it's the "buggy" game, but that was mostly due to a rushed release with publisher pressure. Over the years, the patches and mods have really turned it into an immersive experience that I haven't seen matched anywhere.
There's just so much I can gush over this - the ai working in packs, human encounters being so different than mutant encounters, the fact that you are literally having to survive admist a very punishing environment, the fact that you're not That Guy; you're no duke, sam, or any other hero. You're just another skinny guy trying to survive in the Zone.
And the atmosphere. Oh god.

STALKER = one of the best games ever. IMHO it is the perfect blend of RPG+FPS. It's not as simple or annoying as Borderlands & it's much more exciting then Fallout 3.
i'd say don't run it with any mods the first time through or else it will be near impossible.

Yes, play vanilla + the Zone Reclamation Project, which just fixes bugs and mistranslations (ie sometimes they say cellar rather than attic, which can be confusing), and enjoy the relatively base game first.

BTW, if you can run doom 3 on high then you should be able to run stalker on normal. It's one GPU+CPU intense game.

Awesome! Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm certainly looking for a non-linear game to delve into...
My computer crushes doom3 as it does most games (even though I built the beast in 2007)... I do own it, perhaps ill reinstall!

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
