My ping has been really variable for the past couple weeks...
Well, here is a tracert--could someone explain it to me since it seems that I ping less to servers farther along in the route?

BTW, I always lost packets in the "core.fuse.net" area, so that's nothing new.

My ping went up too. Now I almost never get down to 32-39 ms like I did on the dm and tourney servers a year ago. Sucks.

I mean...what the hell???? Look at that 12th hop. To be fair, I have never ran a tracert before so I have nothing to compare it to. My ping is still under 50, just a lot of noticeable lag lately.

I mean...what the hell???? Look at that 12th hop.

Routers aren't obligated to give a high priority to responding to ping packets (or TTL expired packets in general.)

So while the high latency on hop twelve might indicate that router is pretty busy, it doesn't appear to be affecting hop 13.

One can tend to ignore weird numbers from an individual router so long as the routers beyond it aren't affected.


In general have you been experiencing latency?  Or packetloss?

Yeah, I just thought of that as well looking at hop 13.

I have noticed latency issues the past month or so. Just seems sluggish. Was just on Vanilla a half hour ago and it was very noticeable. Could just be on my end I guess, but it was running fine before. Nothing has changed with my equipment.

Can anyone tell me why my ping went from 76 to 81 and all I did is change computers. The only other thing that's different is the ac dll

such a small change shouldnt cause a problem... but if you changed computers, perhaps it could be something as simple the nic not being as good as your old one
