I have a new orange smoothie server running with fast grapple and runes.  As of yet I haven't been able to get any setmaster servers to actually respond but I'm hoping to get it out there where people will actually join and play.

There are no more master servers AFAIK.

Yahoo bought and killed the All Seeing Eye project and it was never open-sourced. After about a year of owning ASE they killed the scanner servers. Thanks, Yahoo.

satan.idsoftware.com is dead.

The XFire application lists Quake2 servers based on peers, get all your buddies to list your server in XFire manually and others can pick it up and scan it.

If you are using r1q2 dedicated server the setmaster default to R1ch's master server which lists at http://q2servers.net/ and this functionality replaces the original setmaster in idsoftware's quake2 version 3.21. If you are not using R1ch's dedicated server I strongly urge you to do so, it is better, more secure and more stable than the plain Quake2 executable.

I wrote a dedicated master server for Windows and Linux partially based on some of R1ch's code but as AFAIK no one has picked it up for public use.

You are on the right track by listing your server IP in public forums, I hope your server is on a static IP and not at your home on a dynamic IP. Good luck with your server and have fun.

to get your server listed on q2servers.net use this:
setmaster master.q2servers.com

I believe QTracker references that master & any other known working ones.

But I second r1q2 as the dedicated server.  Is it your own server @ home/work or is it through a GSP?
