Author Topic: PLEASE HELP! R1Q2 crash (Read 4116 times)

I have a problem since 2 days ago, for no apparent reason, when i connect with r1q2, as soon as i enter on one server, q2 crashes and it asks me to generate a report.

I tried reinstalling r1q2 and update it, but still the same error. Can someone help please?

There is an issue with Windows 2000 and anticheat I am currently investigating. You may want to upgrade to at least XP, 2000 is getting pretty old by today's standards.

Its ok, seems like it is my anticheat.dll that is corrupted... when i copied my q2 folder elsewhere, i deleted this file and now it works... Only problem, i dont have anticheat anymore.. oh well, guess people will start calling me cheats here and there again lol

Until very recently, I ALWAYS used anticheat. However, it has started misbehaving with my antivirus software. It takes a good 20-30 seconds to load because my antivirus software has to scan it. Then, recently, my antivirus software has decided it has to scan anticheat in the middle of games too, resulting in 2-3 second pauses in my game, where I can't even pull down the console. These happen about once every minute

. So I was forced to stop using it.

mcaffee has been taking it's sweet time to scan it on startup for me too.

I'll probably just go set an exclusion so it never scans the file.

Right when I read this I thought, "How on earth did you know I use McAfee?" Then I realized that you were talking about yourself.

I can probably get away with not using anticheat simply because I suck so bad that nobody would think that I bot.

if that ceases to be the case in the future, you can go into the on-access scanner control panel, and under the "all processes" tab there will be an exclusion button.

this brings up a window that will allow you to browse the files you want it to ignore.

I set one for the quake2 folder with "exclude subdirectories" checked, and I set one for the anticheat.dll itself.
