Hey Guys,

I was wondering how to play music while playing Q2? Usually I like to only hear the default sounds for gaming purposes but since I won't be able to connect too often I was thinking I could take some time to work on my movement, and music would be nice. I recall I used to be able to listen to it, but my settings are different now and when I start up my client winamp shuts down. Any commands or settings for the config to change this? I have nocheat 2.40 or r1q2 if it depends on the client. Anyways, thanks for the help

Senor Crazed,

What worked for me is setting Quake II audio to "more compatible", after which I'm able to use either Winamp or iTunes to play music while I'm in-game.

Yep, set sound to "more compatible". I've played with music before, it's kinda fun to do once in awhile, throw on some J-pop and frag.

All I do is lower the ingame sound volume to barely hearable and play WMPlayer over it...

Hey, I had that problem! shoulda looked in troubleshooting first

but there was a console command that did mine along with max compat...

I always just put in CD's and let either the level pick tracks for me or use the in game CD player commands. But my kids 2 year birthday coming up will mark the 2 year mark since I played with the sound on last.

As I recall, setting "max compatibilty" is equivalent to set s_primary 0

This is a nice little volume up and down script. Good for balancing the game sound to your music. I use it everyday

Just stick it in your config and use the = and - to change volume. You can also use the keypad + and - .
