Sights and Sounds add-on

Has anyone ever used this?  I used to a long time ago and thought it was the coolest thing because it uses old weapons and sounds of the Quake 1 game.  I will have to see if its still available out there.  I love hearing the punchy pineapple bounce down below and hearing the old moans of Death!

I havn't seen it,  I did go into the game and tweaked/changed most sounds to my liking.

The q1 armor sound was the best.

Well if anyone knows where I can get a copy of Q1, I'm sure I could make one from it.

edit: found a copy with piratebay, not sure if it's infested with internet VD though, so if anyone has a copy I can borrow, twould be most excellent.

Update!

I had the full version on an old 2gig HDD that I used to have for an old worthless Win95 system, but it would've been a pain in the ass to hook it up in another machine with a CD-RW drive, so I just torrented it. The one I found, someone else had stuck in a bunch of extra stuff including GLQuake, which is pretty cool, looks a lot better than the original. It's been a long time since I've played it, but the sounds seem to sound pretty low quality. They aren't stuffed away in pak files either, just a bunch of wav's in folders. Like I said, it's been a long time since I've played it and I am completely unfamiliar with what sounds correspond with what actions. From what I've seen so far, the file names are all different from what would be found in Quake2. It'll take me a while to pick out all the sounds and rename them to where they'll work in Q2.

If you looking to have your in-hand guns, pickup guns, pickup ammo boxes, etc all look like the same ones in Q1, forget about it. They aren't compatible with Q2, and I have no experience at all editing and skinning models. Also, being that Q1 features different weapons than Q2, some of the weapon sounds will be weird. For example, I'll probably have to use the nailgun sounds for the machinegun and chaingun. There is no blaster in Q1, the first weapon is an axe, so I suppose I could use the axe swinging sound for the blaster, although that will probably end up sounding kinda shitty in my opinion. I have no idea where to find the graphic items like health numbers and other HUD items. I don't see any pak files anywhere. If anyone has any idea where these items are located and how to extract them, let me know. I'd sure like to be able to get the health numbers especially. If they aren't readily usable in Q2, I can always mess around with MSPaint and Wally and see if I can't do something to make them work.

If you could provide a little more detailed input about what you're looking for, that would really help. Seems like a pretty cool idea to make a Quake1 themed pak file for Quake2. It might take a while, but I'm sure I can git-r-done.

I couldn't find anything on a search so it must have been taken down.  I do have an original Quake 1 game though if you wanted to pull sounds directly from it.  I think what they had in this pak were certain sounds and not replacing all of the Quake 2 files i.e. sounds replaced were: rocket launcher, grenade launcher, shotgun, double barrel shotgun.  The looks of these weapons were probably used from Quake 1 as well I believe.  What I also wonder is if the sounds of the jumps and deaths were different and could be replaced.

But yeah if you want a direct copy of Quake 1, I could lend it to you and you could rip a copy of it for your own use.

Nah, like I said, I already found a working copy. Acquiring the sounds is the easy part. What I've been beating my head against the wall for the past 30 to 45 minutes trying to figure out is how to export the picture files from the "GFX.WAD" file. I can open it open it up and see the file names, but it won't open or export any of those individual image files, I guess it's some odd format or something. Anybody got a clue in hell as to how to pull those images out and convert them to BMP?

i have seen a pak with either q1 or doom 1 shards guns ext in it , but since my pc crashed i lost the links and shit real or focalor might have those links

i think the zemo pak had a few diff paks in it and one of those was it

Hell yeah, that did it. Extracted all the health numbers, HUD weapon icons, powerup icons, key icons, stuff like that. However, things like the main menu for Quake1 are not located in that "GFX.WAD" file. I don't see any other WAD files in any of the other folders either. Anybody got a clue where the menu banners and such would be found and how to extract them?

Are you trying to change over everything that was Quake 2 into a Quake 1 scenario?  I think the original Sights and Sounds pak that I remember was just weapons appearances and sounds.  Don't think it changed everything in Quake 2.
