It hascame to our attention and some clients that tastyspleen.net allows certain players cheats and so forth like spawning with rail and rocket and so forth.  This is a attempt to clear this up or face future prosecution in the state of texas (wichita county). We hope this does not have to go further but we as a entity are prepared to bring tastspleen.net and all constituants to court on said process. We feel making everyone use anticheat will be beneficial to everyone and the people tastyspleen serves as a better entity. But at the same time tastyspleen does allow certain people cheats and so forth and do prepare to submit videos and so forth to represent our selves in this case. You have seven days to reply or the lawsuit will go forth.

Quadz I would like to tell you we have decided to go ahead with our lawsuit against tastyspleen.  As we have seen certain people like panjoo slowing people down with a timerefresh numerous times which in turn is not fair to other players at all, this stuff will stop and decise immediately accordingly on the date we will file our lawsuit and all other affairs also will be stopped accordingly per said suit. Tastyspleen has done nothing to reverse these effects happening on youre servers which is not fair to the other people that play accordingly to how the game is played with out cheating. 

Note:

1. Panjoo is not an admin, and thus is unable to send timerefresh commands to other clients.

2. Typing timerefresh in one's own console does not lag the server or lag other clients.  Q2's netcode (server architecture) would have to be total crap for that to happen.  id Software would not (and indeed, did not) use such a bogus design that would allow packets (or lack of packets) from one client, to lag the server, or other clients.  That would be dumb.

Yeah, I got done posting that and then remembered something about this "suer" being from TX and that dawk was from PA or OK.

Just some thoughts about this person... and hopefully they read this and take it to heart:

If they are from TX, they should be having a ping somewhere in the range of 12 to 18 which makes shooting other players a hell of a lot easier since they won't have to fire ahead of someone quite as far as the rest of us. If this person could simply learn a little bit patience, remain calm and cool, and keep practicing, they would eventually get the hang of it and become a much tougher contender, which I'm sure would bring this knucklehead a lot more emotional satisfaction. I sure as hell wish I had a ping in the teens, I guarantee you I'd be able to kill the living shit out of everyone with it. Perhaps they simply have a fucked up game config that needs tweaking. They obviously have the knowledge to use the IRC channel and the forums. If they would USE that knowledge to ask people in a polite and cordial way to offer them tips and ways to set up their game better, perhaps they'd find that they've been handicapping themselves the whole time with improper settings. I played for over a year with my gl_swapinterval set improperly which lagged mouse aiming a little. Once I fixed it, it was a pretty big difference in performance. Try being friendly and generally pleasant instead of pitching a temper tantrum and pounding out your aggression by sending empty threats to everyone, blaming everyone else for your own problems. CALM DOWN! BE COOL! ASK FOR HELP! If shit don't work out immediately, don't be a dawk and freak out immediately and go back to being a little shit, just remain cool and collected and friendly and patient. Something to think about, hint hint.

What is this "gl_swapinterval" setting, and how do you use it?

that would be the in-game setting for enabling/disabling v-sync.

in practice, vsync will cap your fps to whatever the refresh rate of your monitor is, and this can cause the game to look very smooth, but react strangely depending on the number of frames per second you're using and how it is meshing with the server's cycles.

in r1q2, with vsync on (gl_swapinterval 1) your maxfps will also be your packets per second rate to/from the server.
