There are two schools of thought regarding copyright.

The first considers an item copyrighted from the moment it is created by the author. Is a screenshot copyrightable? Is it a creation of the author when it's a simple-minded press of a key invoking a command built into a game or is it a derivative work? One might say that publishing a screen shot of copyrighted content (the game) is a violation of copyright.

The second considers the publication of cheat screenshots showing winning cheated scores to be worthy of a foot up the author's ass. Re-publication by others of those images as evidence of the cheater's low-life behavior would be considered "fair use" under copyright law.

Too bad posting a downloadable copy of the Quake2 game in it's entirety on your website is a violation of REAL copyright laws. If I really wanted to be a dick, I could pick up the phone and give id software a ring.
