I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's a laptop with that wonderfully awesome built-in intel video that's about as useful as a fur sink or a gasoline-powered turtleneck sweater.

The computer on which she plays Q2 in software mode, turns out to be a rather bizarre old euro "server" computer that has a PCI-X bus. (PCI-X is not PCIe.)

Although the Wikipedia article claims, "PCI-X is generally backward-compatible with most cards based on the PCI 2.x", this does not seem to be the case on her system. It's a strange motherboard... the slots seem wrong for ordinary PCI. And the few PCI-X video cards that were ever made, seemed to be pre-3D.

Wow, I would have thought both 3DFX and Power-VR predated PCI. I think Matrox made some cards that fit the bill. Sadly, you could buy a Mac Pro for less than some of them go for

I'm having trouble finding the links, but the few "PCI-X" video cards that I was able to locate information about, seemed to be pretty old/low performance. Overall, the PCI-X market seemed to be aimed at various types of I/O cards like network or RAID cards for servers, that needed more bandwidth than standard PCI could provide.

For video cards, I got the impression that, since PCI-X was usually backward-compatible with PCI, most manufacturers simply produced PCI cards.

(But unfortunately Spawny's PCI-X mobo doesn't seem to be backward-compatible with PCI.)

focalor - my laptop is over 3 years old and my intel integrated graphics is fine.. My fps would oscillate from 30-63 fps in r1gl / opengl but most of the time it would stay in the 45-60 range. I've never been used to a good system, that is good for me.

Yeah, I think she plays in windowed mode and takes screenshots by hitting the "PRT SCR" key and then pasting it to a BMP.

Im designer and is not resized, you can see that cleary in the fonts. Is software mode
