I also have wondered about what happened to sloan. Probably doesn't play 'cause of the custom maps take a loooooonnnnnggg time to download on dialup, which I think is what he has. I kinda miss him myself.

On Some of the comments. I will look into the other server listed and see what it is like there. Another comment and a thought! What do you do when the xquake server is full? I usually look for another server. I try the mod Weapons of Destructions aka Wod. I also look for a good Lithium Server. If anyone knows of a good alternate server, please let me know.
On a Serious note. Hurricane Frances is coming. It looks like another Hugo to me. We lost power for 21 days when Hugo hit. I hope the Florida gamers stay alert. This storm has me nervous. I would hate to lose a fellow quakers.(even ones with a gutter mouth

If if tracks toward me it will hit on Sunday morning Heck of a Holiday weekend.

I agree with what Majikslug wrote, but it is pretty hard to draw the line and decide which comments should be let go. I have seen all types of things in the years that i have played this game. Everything from violence threats to hacking threats, abuse, harassment and spam. Many of which i would have muted banned or otherwise delt with if i had the chance. Things such as "hey so and so is a lame cheater bot hacking newb fag" are opinion based, and are not so much as direct threats. Most of the time i see players get flamed who are obviously not cheating. even if they were though its no reason to act like that. but stuff like "im gonna hack your server, just wait, youll see!", or racial type comments are pretty much direct threats and that type of thing shouldnt be tolerated anywhere, imo.

I know I am a little late on this post, but I joined a few days ago.

I am almost 40 so I am a youngster to some of you

I used to play alot at games.velocity.net (66.211.211.100:27910) but it is mostly empty now. While playing there we used to kid around with to [QST] tag (Quake Senior Tour).

If xquake is full you might want to try the velocity server. It has a unique mod. All weapons and armor are normal with the exception of the
Rail and the BFG. The Rail is Insta and the BFG can only kill on a direct hit, otherwise the outer bands give health. Basically its not a server for
BFG'ers, but is good for everyone else especially people who like to rail

Thanks for the info. I always like to keep my options open. I have been lucky and able to join arena xquake latley. It nice to have an alternate server to go to.

It doesn't surprise me that there are "older" gamers out there. I'm 39 and have been weened on Atari 800s,Pac man and Nintendo since the early 80's.Time will never diminish my love for this new art form,and I can picture myself still playing Quake X in my eighties.Or Duke Nukem Forever,whichever comes first!
