No download is needed for this mod, but you can download the proper version WOD download at the bottom link. With it, when people take grazing shots, they catch on fire, and the explosions are better.  Not needed to play the game though.

i'll attach a demo of some WOD action on dm5.  However, i use the most current r1q2, so if you dont have it, you may not be able to see it.  i'll get another demo using EGL or some other client so everyone can check it out.

It shouldnt be.  Its on a pretty stable connection and runs 24/7.

Only time it goes down is for periodic maintainance, and that usually last about ten seconds max.

I didn't know, or didn't remember that the railgun could shoot through walls.  How many walls can it go through?  Will it go through the entire map?  Making shots possible from waaaay on the other side of the map?  I also like the GL style gun that explodes on impact of a wall, like a RL with an arc trajectory.  WOD has some fun aspects to it.

The rail goes through thinner walls and normally does approximately 2/3 damage to the target after traveling through a wall.  The stock dm maps are especially good for this as they tend to have many rooms next to each other with thinner walls then most custom maps.  It is funny as hell to be just running through a room and have a rail pass right in front of your face.  Makes you feel a tad vulnerable at all times.

The grenade launcher bazooka is a fun weapon too.  It is really toned down in this version of the mod.  So are all of the MASSIVE explosions.  Other versions of the mod have a ton of different grenades and tend to get so spammy that skill is removed from the game.  In my opinion, this is the best balanced version of the WOD game.  You can bind a key "use bazooka" for instant access to it instead of trying to cycle through the grenade launcher twice to it.

Another popular weapon is the streetsweeper.  The bind for it is "use streetsweeper".

i would suggest making a config for this mod.  It creates a "weapons" directory in your quake2.  Go into the config there and customize your own.  The server has the hook enabled, so check out the hook alias links posted above for different types of hooks to add to your config.

i had to remove the machine gun rockets and decoys because they were lagging the server.  Get twelve people in 2box4, plus twelve decoys and all the explosions to go with it, and things were getting a bit to hairy.   It was nuts to witness anyways.

Looks like everyone is enjoying the mod, and that makes me happy.  It has always been a favorite of mine, so it is nice to see people enjoy it for the first time.  Many people keep saying how addictive it is, and i agree.  DM tends to feel boring after you start playing it a bit.

The game does not require a client side download, but there is one available in the link posted above.  If you dont have it, grab it, it is worth it.  Nothing like watching your buddies toast in flames like a hotdog on a grille.

for the hook yeah i think so, the other stuff can be used without downloading anything... its an ffa server so you dont really need to worry about team-skins

(i could be wrong.. i havent tried the server, nor played wod in years.. but type goto wod and check it out  )

EASY HOOK BIND:

bind KEY "hook action; hook shrink"

Tap the key once to send it out, when it connects to a hard surface, it will pull itself in.  To let go of the surface, tap it again.
