Hola,

I've set up a coop2 server...

For now it is running the zaero single player....

GOTO COOP2 (or: GOTO ZAERO)

The maps are pretty cool in single player, dunno if it was meant for coop or not, seems like maybe only one spawn point..??? However, presumably more spawns could be added with a .override .......

Anyway, zaero has some pretty tough monsters (it ramps up quickly after the first level...)

Looks great - it crashed agter about 5 minutes though:

WARNING: A cl_maxfps value of over 100 is strongly discouraged
R1Q2 separates network and rendering so a cl_maxfps value > 30
is rarely needed. Use r_maxfps to control maximum rendered FPS

I've played zaero much farther than this in singleplayer, so... i presume this is some co-op incompatibility.

zaero is pretty fun in singleplayer, was hoping it would work out in co-op.

Well, so, what are some other options for coop2 ... ? rogue? xatrix? ... ???

Hello console,

in this thread we talked about a xatrix coop server. There seems to be plenty of interest in a xatrix coop2 server. Also, zearo is not so well known and spread among the community as xatrix or rogue. It would be really great to have a xatrix coop2 server.

Or just imagine a coop MOD rotation. This way we could have xatrix and rogue coop play on one server. Would be some work to code it though.

Yeah..

I was kind of hoping zaero would work out, partly because it is so little known, but really has some nice single-player gameplay.

But...... I guess it just won't work properly in co-op mode, without fixes to the maps (override) or code (we have the official zaero-src-1.1-2 source code release.)

Yeah I guess we can try rogue or xatrix co-op next.

Reading the logfiles, it looks like players have gotten pretty far on zaero co-op...

(But, apparently it allows cheat codes by default just like baseq2 co-op...

)

Cheating kinda defeats the purpose of a game of skill?

Ususally I play An FPS all the way through without cheats, using every non cheating trick in the book including the basic (SAVE OFTEN), rocket jumps and so on,
then after crawling around the corridors with 10 health and beating the game, I reward myself with the codes and go back though the game as Superbadass terminator,

But in Coop you have other to help you? thats a huge boost right there? you can use Coop only tricks like jumping on other players to reach inaccessible areas,
you only invent these skills when you don't have the alternative of 'turning on godmode' there are plenty of invulnerability artifacts ALREADY IN THE GAME! use those.

bottom line: "If you want to use cheat codes to become invulnerable all the time, Whats the point?, play offline and don't burden others with your lack of ability or confidence."

For some reason it went from zboss to base1. (I have restarted the server.)

This may be fixed by Z7's new override for zboss.

Yeah I agree cheating is lame but I'd never seen the mod before and I wanted to see as much as possible of it before the server crashed. Cheating like this here had very minimal impact on other players.

We did get quite far into it before it crashed again - real shame this happens. Some hilarious death scenarios: "ToxicMonkey^MZC was humped to death by a devil dog" - or something like that

Co-op mode doesn't seem to have been focussed on by the ID team as even the basic SP Q2 co-op mode seems to crash regularly too. This is a real shame.

I vote for Hell is for Heroes mod for SP but Xatrix or Rogue I'm sure would be just as much fun. Hope we can find one that works all the way through.

I just fell victem to some strange glitch on the boss level. The boss had a grapple stuck to a wall. I walked close to the boss and r1q2 crashed. When I reconnected the tenticle was attached to me causing damage and would not detach even if I died.

It's probably something that just needs added to the initclientpersistants function.

Was source available? I can't remember. If so I'll try to track it down later.
