Reformatted my computer about a week ago. Got a virus scanner along with quake2, never had a problem with the anticheat.dll. Just started giving me problems when loading r1q2 today(i know its common for scanners to give problems with that .dll). I close the virus scanner completely but now anticheat fails to load at all. Any suggestions?

depending on the virus scan program, it may have deleted/quarantined your anticheat.dll.

If you could follow up with your Virus Scan make and version, we may be able to assist you in setting up exceptions for it in your detection rules so that it won't be automatically wiped out every time q2 tries to access it.

I'd look for an advanced detection settings panel, and attempt to force AVG to ignore the entire Q2 folder and all subdirectories.

AVG updated their definitions to remove the false positive on anticheat, you should be able to update and use AC now.

I use Norman, www.norman.com and on the scanner and the downloaded anti-spyware scanner programs are detecting anticheat.dll as a Trojan

Add it to your ignore list and/or complain to support.

I'm trying to start using R1Q2 anticheat but it won't let me change the FOV to 100 or 120. Any way to do that? It lets you go 90 or lower with no problem.

I've used R1Q2 for 2 years and my FOV is fine at 120. However on the Co-op server it will occasionally go to FOV 90 when the level changes. I fix it quickly by hitting my "zoom" button which has an FOV 120 command in it. Still a bit odd, and only on Co-op.

You may be playing on a Force FOV server which doesn't allow you to set the FOV. Neither R1Q2 nor anticheat restrict FOV, although anticheat can be configured to restrict FOV at admins discretion.

how do you get anticheat to allow in Avast? usually it lets it thru,but this time im in windows 7 and avast wont let me download ac,if i stop protection it lets me download and use,but anyone use avast and know how to allow ac?

My mistake. On my old set up, when at the default (fov 90) you would see the hand holding the gun. When I changed the FOV to 100 or 120, the hand/gun went away. Now the hand/gun stay, so I thought the FOV change wasn't working. Now I just have to change the hand to "center" to make it go away.
