without a demo or some form of evidence nobody is getting banned, so bring it forth if you have something.


In order to allow as many people to play as possible we can't force Anticheat on the servers.  (although the server has Anticheat enabled it does not force you to use it to connect)

Unfortunately, in order to allow all of the people to play who use macs or linux, we had to allow a grey area that benefits those players who want to hack:

they can choose not to use anticheat and might even get their hacks to work as long as someone doesn't call them out on it.

The way we've decided to handle that grey area is pretty simple:

If you're caught cheating (by whatever means that satisfy us) you're banned indefinitely and we'll be happily forwarding the evidence to every other q2 server admin that we feel it will assist.


with that said,

If you think someone's cheating, try to record them or at least the game.
If you can't get an in-eyes demo yourself (ie: you're playing them at the time) have someone else alias randomly and come in and spec them.

Nocheat is quite old, effectively dead as a project, and it has been hacked repeatedly. Much the same for Q2ace.
I can't think of a legit reason to be using either when there are at least 3 frequently updated and supported clients that work with anticheat (including APRQ2 and R1Q2), the use of which would minimize the effects of any cheating accusations on a player.

If you find yourself the target of such accusations and are a legit player who would like to minimize the amount of bullshit admins would have to go through to prove it, I'd recommend downloading anticheat and a capable client and using it every time you connect.
