railwolf, what are your settings?... FOV, sensitivity etc etc...seems you're pretty good at aiming while hooking.

Being good with the hook and rail comes from many years of playing tourney insta-gib (back when hook was common)...I can sometimes aim better in the air than on the ground

Well your sensitivity can be impacting by windows mouse settings and the type of mouse you use, so an exact number from my settings wont yield the same for you. I do like my sens a little slower and no mouse pad because I always just run the mouse right off of it. I prefer to have the pitch and yaw set up different. I have the pitch (up and down) set slower than the yaw (left and right) in my settings, it feels a little bit more stable to me when 'drawing a bead' for a shot. Also, I use slightly different settings for wodx than tourney because of the hooking that is common in wodx. I use a little more fov and slightly higher sense.

The bright skins, from what I've seen and heard, is pretty common for competition because the athena skin can sometimes camo to the walls and be hard to see. This way, if everyone has bright skins, its more balanced and everyone can see better.

I run R1Q2 with R1GL and the rez jacked up to 1680x1050. Going from the normal ref_gl to the R1GL and puttin the rez up can actually make a very nice difference and gives you some better visibility being it's a little clearer and sharper.

I don't play WOD so I don't know anything about the weapons but if a weapon is part of the mod I don't believe it should be removed.
