The only reason you have doubts about executing Saddam is the passage of time. As you see him dressed for trial he becomes almost human and you develop sympathy for him. You forget his immense cruelty, not just to Kuwait but to his own people. Hundreds of thousands of them. He was a lot like Stalin.
