new FOX server?

Can we get one? There's plenty of empty servers no one plays on. Why a new one? Because EXTERMINADER owns the one we got and bans people left and right just because he has an inverted dingling. If we get a new one his should become FOX2.

Xatrix as a whole and the FOX server in particular are very community based, and the community is centered around him. Unless he himself plays on it, the other players that always play with him when he's online will not bother with it; you'd be sitting on an empty server. It's not a matter of a community being divided under 4 or 5 servers, it's a matter of the one server that he (exterminader) chooses to play on and invite people over to. There's very little that you, as one single person who isn't a regular can do about it.
 
This is just from what I've personally observed and experienced before, and I'd say that I know how the community works inside and out. If you aren't willing to to conform to a playing style, attitude, or skin that he doesn't like, you won't be playing xatrix at all, even if he didn't have his own server. People just started focusing on him kicking and banning people, even though he could easily do the same thing if he really doesn't like you before he got his own server. His influence in the community will make sure that everyone will be playing on a server that you're not on at all times. Personally, it's not something I agree with or condone, but you're going to have to live with it. There is no xatrix community without him.

I don't really like the mod all that much, but I still appreciate it for what it is. The only difference in Xatrix and straight DM is the phalanx, traps, ripper, and quad-fire. I don't see too much advantage to the new weapons over the original ones (which is the reason I mainly use the original weapons when playing it), but they aren't entirely overpowered, and they do have their own unique properties and uses. Because of this, I don't consider it a completely useless mod like the ultra-modded WODX bullshit they "play" on the WHALE server which features a whole host of totally overpowered weapons that lend themselves far too easily to rampant full-time spam. Dorks. 

The phalanx is basically like a rocket launcher, only it shoots 2 projectiles per burst. If you're dealing with someone that can dodge rockets fairly well, and you use the weapon properly with skill, you can spread both shots of the burst to either side of the target and splash them with damage.  It can negate their ability to dodge in either direction because either way they go, they're probably gonna catch some damage.

The ripper can be used uniquely and effectively by bouncing the shots around corners or through tunnels where opponents might be lurking. Much like people often use hand grenades or grenade launcher, it can be deployed to lay down cover fire to help discourage someone from pursuing you or to punish them for deciding to continue to do so. And the great thing about it is it shoots projectiles that don't stop once they hit one wall. You don't need a clean line of sight to a target for it to be effective.

Traps... are just annoying. I almost wish these would've never been added to this mod. It was probably a good idea when the mod designer thought of it, but I don't think they thought it through long enough. It's a weapon that easily lends itself to being abused by the right person. Certain people's entire gameplan is to collect a few traps, find a place to hide within range of the trap spawn location so they can keep grabbing more, and then continuously deploy traps and wait in their hiding spot for someone to become lodged in it, at which point they poke out and begin firing at the person. And if their plan to play that way becomes foiled, they run like hell from the area, and meanwhile you're stuck there in one place waiting for the trap to expire. They won't come back and risk trading fire with you, they just leave you there to WAIT. It wastes time that you could be running around, hunting for people, playing the game. It just makes the game experience very boring. But as long as someone is deploying them WITHOUT using this tactic, which only amounts to CAMPING , then I have no complaints at all. I still hate getting stuck in one someone's dropped miles away from the action, but at least they aren't trying to collect freebie frags off them like a little pussy. Which is the whole reason I used to suicide when I'd get stuck in one. I'm not gonna sit there and give them an easy uncontested frag they have done nothing to earn it. I move, I hunt, I fight, and I frag. I don't sit and camp/ambush, and I don't run from someone like a scared little girl the second they return fire. If I wanted to play like that, I'd quit playing FFA and start playing TDM where those tactics are often the entire object of the game... which is boring as hell for me.

The quad-fire... is quirky and unique, but not so unique that I'd miss anything about it if you took it out. If you can't aim for shit, it can be a handy temporary supplement to use. You get about 20 slugs gathered and then just hold down fire with a railgun while trying to keep your crosshair over the target and eventually one time you're gonna get lucky and nail them. Same with SSG+quadfire. Wouldn't recommend using it with chaingun though as it'll eat through a full 200 bullets faster than a greased leopard farts.
