im still not totally sure how this happened, i still think its a power issue
i replaced my surge protector so far

but now im thinking it may have been my kvm switch, which im still currently using

it could be the KVM, i know of some computer that won't boot or they have issues when plugged into KVMs.

the reason i think this is after i got my new board and had these people put it together, it didnt work, just like it did the first time it broke

it seems the ps2 mouse they were using was shorting it out, but didnt break it
both this computer and the other computer use this kvm, and both have experienced this issue

as iv said, im gunna see how this goes for the next few days, iv only had my machine on for 9-10 hours since i got it back
no issues though which is good

If your psu inside your pc is too weak, it can cause all sorts of funky problems. I have one here with the CD ROM and second HDD disconnected because it had the symptoms you describe. If it happens again, try unplugging some non essential devices and see what happens.

Also, replace the power bar with a decent surge protector or even a cheap UPS, we have lots of power surges, I've had 3, 1 Motherboard and a router destroyed by them.

the psu is more than plenty for my machine at 600w
i replaced the power bar with a belkin one, was the best one i found around town

i have had no problems other than some loud humming which is probably from one of my fans

been a few thunder storms the last few days, i think there was a surge here, i was watchin tv and it went all nutty
but my computer was fine
