I just don't like the idea of powerups.  I guess I prefer a NASCAR style of gaming (btw I think NASCAR is boring).  Where the equipment is very much identical, and it's the operator's skills that dictate who wins.  I don't like dying to someone that has quad, how quickly they erase any armor I've taken the time to collect, or gone around and picked up health packs to recover from a battle, only to round the corner with joe average player with machinegun/SS, or whatever the weapon may be, and kill me in like 2 seconds. 

I don't want to have to visit the same area of a map (quad) in order to stay ahead.  I want to frag on the whole map.

I love the DM maps, but I don't like being required (depending on opponents) to "camp" a specific area of the map to win.  I'd like to win by just playing the best for that map rotation.  I don't want to win by having a power that all my other competitors didn't have, or by overpowering them.  It's sorta like someone on a LAN kicking the crap out of 10 HPB's, with one guy having a huge advantage over the others.  And I know, I could do what I said I don't like to do above, and camp the quad to win, but I just can't see how that is enjoyable compared to a real gritty match of skills.  Besides, I've always said I play to see myself improve, and quad weakens your skills to a point IMO.  It rewards sloppiness because of superior fire power than your opponent.

Anyway, I still would like to see it go bye bye, and from the looks of the vote in another thread, a lot of others do too (though I think keeping quad was winning by like 12/11 vote last I checked).

I understand your point about how quad damage affects gameplay.  I agree that it does.  I (obviously) like the powerups. 

• I feel the powerups focus the players to meet and battle for the powerups at each respawn.
• The powerups are available for anyone.  It is like saying the BFG is cheap and should be removed - but I think it should stay.
• Overall, I think it makes the gameplay more spicy.

However, I can appreciate that you don't like that effect.

There is middleground..
  - You can mymap with powerups disabled
  - You can kill the quad carrier and get quad yourself
  - If it is you and I, we can play without quad just by agreement

In other words it becomes a mad dash directly to one area of the map everytime you respawn?  Why is that good?  And besides, until every player playing at a given time adopts that playstyle (which I don't see happening), there is no mad dash to quad, and it's usually like one person using it over and over again, and there is no focus, it's just one player having an imbalance of power against the others.

Honestly, I don't have much of a problem with the BFG, at least not to the same degree as I dislike quad.  I stated in another thread, since the BFG is static, and does not get consumed, you could potentially have a scenario where all 12 players on a map had the BFG at a given time.  This is not the case with quad.  Quad will always be (in the case of the DM maps) an advantage that a single player has at a given time.  BFG is just another weapon, with fairly hefty disadvantages such as sound warning you it's nearby, slow charge up time before firing, slow movement of the projectile, and a relatively low amount of ammo for it on most maps, etc.  I guess you could say being blue is the Quad's disadvantage, since it shows who has the quad, but quad is a modifier to all weapons, not just one powerful weapon, so it has nothing really in the way of balance control like the BFG does.

Overall, I think it makes the gameplay more spicy.

Yes it does change it, and I wouldn't care if it were here and there, but it's on 6 maps in a row, 6 of the 8 DM maps.  DM2-DM6.  I'd prefer to see it mymapped on/in.

I'd prefer to see it mymapped in, just my preference.  Like I said above, since it's on 6 maps in a row, in the instances where a single good player (yourself, Elysium, etc.) is using it over and over, it's just kinda done ad nauseam.  I mean I'm good enough to win in most scenarios without quad.  I feel that if I controlled quad effectively, I'd win much more often, and that would get boring.  I like having a chance to lose, I like competition, I don't like winning a 30 fraglimit map by 15 frags consistantly.

Yes, I really appreciate your willingness to compromise in this regard.  Not that you should be required to do so by any  means, but I do appreciate it.

The Quad should always be in maps it was originally put in. Not including MODS of corse.
That way you have a choice.
If it's in and you don't like it, you have a choice, mymap it out. But if it's removed and you "do" like it, well that's just to damn bad for you, your choice has been removed.
