New puter not-urgent but annoying problems.

Gigabyte K8N-E nForce4 PCI-E Motherboard.
Winfast LeadTek 6600GT PCI-E 128mb factory-overclocked 575/1125mhz 

I see 3 things here.
First your Performance RAM should have HeatSinks on them. RAM can and will overheat very quickly.
Second make sure your Vid Card is Compatable with your Mobo. Check to make sure your Vids fan is not unplugged and is working. what kind of cooling system do you have for your mobo's chipset, are they on tight. The nForce chipset can generate some extreme heat.

Third and most likely. SLOW DOWN THAT VID'S CLOCK SPEED!!! It may be "factory" overclocked, but with all the other heat generators in your case, your GPU may just not be able to handle the heat load.

The video card is compatible.. it works dont it!? the nforce4 chipset is passively cooled by this sexy gold heatsink on my aqua blue pcb mobo haha. and even if the gpu cant handle it and fries out, im warrantied so I can send it back and it wont be my fault. thanks for the reply.

Have you not considered the possibility of a dodgy PSU?  Classic symptoms there.

true about the PSU, i did warm adam about getting non-branded PSU, should have gone Enermax or Antech

Why would that cause a system lock up? lol? the system keeps power in everything.

it causes a lockup when current drain for the system exceeds the current output of the PSU, thats why you got a black screen when the GFX card powered down/crashed

i would agree if this was crappy 300w PSU
but a 600w? that should be more then enough power

Yeah, even if it is a generic one. 600W is plenty. oh and dont you think that it would happen when playing games, when everything has to work harder? it never ever does.
