Which one is the best Software, Default Opengl, 3DFX Opengl, Powerur Open gl, R1 gl, or Nocheat open gl.

My system specs are AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.0GHz, 1022MB RAM, 80 GB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE Graphics Card, LG 24" 2ms response time, 50,000:1 contrast ratio Monitor, Realtek AC97 Audio Sound Card and Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.080814-1236).

Well the easy stuff first. Forget Software. 3DFX was proprietary Voodoo technology which is obsolete. If by some strange quirk you have an old Voodoo card, Quake will look amazing, but your card won't last. The Power GL thing was 1998 technology which doesn't exist anymore.

Which really only leaves Open GL or some variant of that. Ge-Force video cards typically run this. R1GL can run many different superior upgrades to regular Quake with Open GL.

Your system is very similar to mine - which I'm in the process of replacing. It's about 6 years old and giving me problems here and there. Your hard drive is quite small - you should at least replace that. A hundred bucks will get you at least 500 GB. I have the same GeForce 7300 card and you can't adjust it for the "dual core" Quake problem. Only more recent cards. Also you realize your LCD monitor will cap FPS at 60 - no higher.

try gl_swapinterval "0"  Rec;that should allow you to reach you maxfps value.
